Stanley Schtinter, The Lock-In

När? Ons 24 sep kl 17–20

Under kvällen presenterar coyote videoverket The Lock-In av konstnären Stanley Schtinter. Verket består uteslutande av scener från pubar i den brittiska såpoperan EastEnders och är oändlig i bemärkelsen att källan är oändlig och dess skapare levande. The Lock-In hade premiär på den internationella kortfilmsfestivalen i Oberhausen. Verket presenterades i form av en pågående installation, en 96 timmar lång arbetsvecka.

Marie Karlberg presenterar Marie’s Bar

In April 2021, Parinaz Mogadassi, founder of Tramps gallery, asked me to participate in an upcoming exhibition at the New York gallery space located in Chinatown. The premise of the exhibition was that we would show something that wasn’t what most people considered “art” but nevertheless meant something to us, participating artists. This was right after Covid so the relationship to the pandemic was poignant. The title of the exhibition It’s not what you think it is and there was everything from baklava and favorite teas to garden tools and sunglasses. I choose to ”activate” the gallery space by having my own bar, simply titled Marie’s Bar. As all restaurants and bars had been closed for over a year, I’d developed my own cocktails, making them at home for “tested” friends visiting. I wanted to share this new cocktail expertise with the world which became my piece in the exhibition. Years later when I moved to Stockholm I would find out that coyote, an artist collective, also had made a bar. This prompted me to make an exhibition with them at my gallery Beau Travail in Stockholm, which opened in May 2025. Now, coyote has made a bar again, for Bonnier’s Konsthall and it just made sense to do Marie’s Bar there, this time on October 8th 2025 to complete the circle. – Marie Karlberg

Nik Geene & Erik Lavesson presenterar “15 minutes ago everybody was broke”

One day, Ponti Hultén brought us a little box, almost the size of a Brillo box, and told us that it contained everything written about the subject … (today the equivalent would probably be two truck loads). Our job was to read it all and extract the most poignant lines. After a couple of nights we delivered a manuscript with quotes to Ponti and awaited his reaction. “Excellent,” Ponti said when he called us, “but there is a quotation missing.” “Which one?” we said. “Underneath the cobblestones there is a turtle, and underneath that turtle there is another turtle, and from there on it’s just turtles all the way down,” he replied. “If that was in the material we would have spotted it,” we told him. The line went quiet for a moment, and then we heard Ponti say, “Well if he didn’t say it, he could very well have said it. Let’s put it in.”
