In 1948 Karl-Birger Blomdahl was enlisted to compose the music to dance researcher Birgit Åkesson’s dance choreography Fruktbarhet (Fecundity), as the piece was to be filmed. Out of this collaboration emerged Blomdahl’s Dance Suite No. 1, which later made its way into the chamber music repertoire. This recording features the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra in 1985.
