The season opened with the first solo exhibition in the Nordic countries by Brazilian artist Laura Lima. At Bonniers Konsthall, one of the highlights was The Naked Magician (2008/2010/2013), a performative installation featuring a magician surrounded by a vast array of objects in a carefully coordinated color palette. All of the objects could be used to perform magic—but there were no hidden tricks; the naked magician revealed everything.
For The Naked Magician, Bonniers Konsthall began collecting a wide variety of objects in Stockholm during the spring. The artist requested that all items follow a color scheme of white, beige, black, and gray, though wood-toned objects were also welcome. The collection included unusual thrift-store finds such as furniture, decorative items, ceramics, stuffed animals and birds, older electronics, stoves, bathtubs, and more.
Through emailing images to then-employee and project coordinator Caroline Elgh, members of the public could contribute objects in exchange for free tickets to the exhibition and a mention on the website.
