Book release: Afrang Nordlöf Malekian & Nour Helou, The Tale of the (Fe)Male Sun

Welcome to the book release of The Tale of the (Fe)Male Sun, by Afrang Nordlöf Malekian and art historian Nour Helou.
Through mythologies, anecdotes, historical facts, Qajar paintings, photo archives in Beirut, hand-colored photographs, as well as cassette and vinyl covers, they explore the beauty standards of Southwest Asia and North Africa. A story of the rise and fall of beauty hierarchies emerges.
Program
6–7 pm: Afrang Nordlöf Malekian and Nour Helou in conversation about the book, moderated by Göran Dahlberg (publisher and editor, Glänta). Readings by Afrang Nordlöf Malekian, Nour Helou and Kira Josefsson (Glänta).
7–9 pm: Mingel and book sale in BKH Café. DJ, George Chamoun, will play Iranian and Arabic music from albums featured in the book, with artists such as Giti, Leila Forouhar, and Mohamed Amin.
The book will be available at a special price during the evening!
The event will be held in both English and Swedish. Admission to the exhibition is included.
