Peter Liversidge’s proposal Notes On Protesting unfolds from the concept of freedom of speech and the right to make ones voice heard. A highly acute issue in a time when the free word is both challenged and threatened, in parts of Europe as well as the rest of the world. During the fall of 2018, the artist has organized workshops around these issues, together with 110 students from Farsta Primary School and the Adolf Fredriks music classes in Farsta. Collaboratively, they have produced banderols, placards and protest songs.
On January 19th, the artist will together with the students perform a protest rally at Bonniers Konsthall, expressing the children’s view on the world they live in. The performance will also be enacted for the public at the shopping centre Farsta Centrum, on January 18th at 4.30 pm.
The work Notes On Protesting was originally enacted in London in 2014, in collaboration with Whitechapel Gallery. The exhibition presents documentation from Liversidge’s work with the children in London as well as in Farsta.
