Jennifer Rainsford, Lake on Fire, 2020
Duration: 14.30 min
The film is set in a future India, where the former lovers Nara and Ada are reunited. The surrounding forest was made by an artificial intelligence constructed by the scientist Ada with the aim of doing good, in an otherwise terrifying and turbulent age.The forest makes noises, talks and changes colour, and people turn to it for answers to their personal questions. In this low-intensity science-fiction drama, the forest and trees are the main protagonists, and here Nara seeks the answer to a question concerning his own love life. The film title refers to a fire that Jennifer Rainsford witnessed at lake Bellandur in Bangalore, India in 2015. This event is reflected in the opening scene.
