The Defeated The Aesthetics of Resistance 2026: The Aesthetics of Resistance and the Question of Cultural Organization
—
Bonniers Konsthall in collaboration with the Institute for Advanced Studies in Political Aesthetics (IAS) present a series of lectures and discussions in preparation of the exhibition The Defeated: The Aesthetics of Resistance 2026, which opens at Bonniers Konsthall on August 26 and continues until November 8, 2026.
The Aesthetics of Resistance is a novel that chronicles different forms of cultural organization: associations for safeguarding culture from the devastations of fascism; meeting places and collectives for inventing a future beyond fascism. It is also a novel around which people have organized for collective reading, in reading groups, discussion circles, and research collectives. What can we learn from these forms today, and how can they be developed for creating new forms of resistance and future modes of community?
