Christian Marclay’s Graffiti Composition played by The Great Learning Orchestra + artist talk with Matti Kallioinen

Wed 17 oct 20126:00 pm

At 6 pm, please feel welcome to enjoy a musical performance by The Great Learning Orchestra (TGLO), a diverse ensemble of more than 100 amateur and professional musicians from varying fields. An hour later artist Matti Kallioinen and curator Theodor Ringborg will discuss the realms of music and sound.

TGLO will play Graffiti Composition by Christian Marclay. The piece was composed when Marclay  in 1996 posted more than five thousand blank musical notation sheets throughout Berlin during a month-long sound festival. The public consequently filled them in with standard musical notations as well as scribbles, drawings, and random marks. Photographing the graffitied sheets, Marclay selected 150 of them, and thus created a musical score. At Bonniers Konsthall, not only will The Great Learning Orchestra perform the piece, but the audience will as well have the possibility of seeing the score. Limited number of seats.
