An entire evening of artist talks, performance and sound art
Artists Jesper Just, Hala Elkoussy, Lisa Torell and Carlos Garaicoa engage in discussion with art critic Ingela Lind. Travelling art collective OuUnPo will feature as the evening’s guest.
This evening will be devoted to artists’ relationship to specific cities and those cities’ connection to the wider global network. Cities transform at an incredibly rapid rate, provoking heated discussions around migration, urbanization and cultural belonging. How can we manage the complex relations that extend beyond national borders? How do those relationships affect urban life? How does this affect artists’ ability to work, both locally and internationally? Over the course of the evening, the artists will discuss how they incorporate the city in their art – just how they drift through the city, capturing its ambience. Guest performance group OuUnPo garner inspiration from the notion of artists adrift – both psychologically and physically – with the musical term ‘fugue’ serving as the source of performance, sound art and discussion.
