Liva Isakson Lundin and Linn\u00e9a Sj\u00f6berg are the recipients of the 2018 Maria Bonnier Dahlin Foundation grant. The foundation was established by Jeanette Bonnier in 1985, in memory of her daughter Maria, who lost her life in a car accident at the age of 20. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded grants to young Swedish artists to support them in their work. The 2018 guest jury 2018 included artist Lars Nilsson and Jo Widoff, curator of International Art at Moderna Museet.<\/p>\n

From the jury\u2019s statement:<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough her creative output, she investigates \u2018the intrinsic qualities and fictive emotional state of her materials\u2019. Employing steel, gelatine, rubber and glass in her sculptures and installations, Lundin expresses the contradictory nature of the materials\u2019 characteristics \u2013 soft and hard, oily and dry, permanent and temporary.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

From the jury\u2019s statement:<\/p>\n

\u201cFor some time, Sj\u00f6berg has been noted in her art for the fact that she \u2018time and again immerses herself in the work itself\u2019. Employing various methods, she embodies and adopts different personas and roles over a period of time, for example in\u00a0The\u00a0<\/em>Business Woman<\/em>, a role she performed for 1.5 years. She also ran a mobile tattoo parlour in her work\u00a0Salong Flyttkartong\u00a0<\/em>and most recently performed as a Viking woman.\u201d<\/p>\n
