In the spring of 2013, Bonniers Konsthall presented a reprise of our major film competition, Pocket Cinema<\/em>. The winner, Frida Wrang\u00e5, received a prize of 10,000 SEK, and her work The Moon<\/em> was shown at the art hall during Culture Night on April 20.<\/p>\r\n

Jury\u2019s statement:<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The Moon<\/em> by Frida Wrang\u00e5 is a film that, through minimal means and remarkable focus, has grown to become Pocket Cinema\u2019s most powerful work. In a film lasting only sixty seconds, there isn\u2019t much room \u2014 yet Wrang\u00e5 turns this limitation into an advantage, reducing the image to its essence. Her work consists largely of a text read aloud by a machine; anyone who has ever heard a text message spoken by a synthetic voice will recognize the sound. The contrast between the computer\u2019s cold, mechanical tone and the emotional text is striking. We are reminded that film is not only image \u2014 film is also sound.<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

ABOUT POCKET CINEMA<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

What does it mean for cinematic storytelling when the phone and camera are always within reach? What new kinds of moments are captured? What does it mean that a film can now spread instantly from a phone to Facebook, YouTube, and other social networks? And how do apps and games created for tablets and smartphones influence the evolution of the moving image?<\/p>\r\n

The 2012 winners were Joanna Vikstr\u00f6m and Olle Eriksson.<\/p>\r\n
