During the period of march 13 – april 26 the first edition of Artists’ Film International is shown at Bonniers Konsthall. The selected films are presented below.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Theresa Traore Dahlberg: The Ambassador\u2019s Wife<\/em>, 2017<\/h4>\n

Length: 19 mins.<\/p>\n

In the film The Ambassador\u2019s Wife, we follow the wife of the French Ambassador and her comfortable existence in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The camera slowly pans over the residence\u2019s impressive garden, where workers continually maintain its splendour. The viewer is soon aware that The ambassador\u2019s wife dreamed of being a famous opera singer. Every day, she sings her repertoire knowing that as the ambassador\u2019s wife she is not allowed to work. Caged in a privileged environment, she uses song to endure her present and keep her dreams alive.<\/p>\n

Raju Rage: Techno Gender: Pyramid Revealed By A Sandstorm<\/em>, 2017<\/h4>\n

Length: 7 mins.<\/p>\n

In this collage-like work, Techno Gender: Pyramid Revealed by a Sandstorm Raju Rage, an interdisciplinary artist based in London, reveals how self-injected hormones affect us emotionally. The work also examines sensory perceptions and surveillance. Inspired by gender theory, art, grassroots-based health activism and testimonies from the internet, Raju Rage investigates and questions the importance of hormones in society\u2019s classification of gender.<\/p>\n

Evelyn Taocheng Wang: The Interview<\/em>, 2017<\/h4>\n

Length: 11 mins.<\/p>\n

Evelyn Wang\u2019s (b. 1981, China) The Interview is a retake of an interview the artist herself did in 2016 in conjunction with having won the Volkskrant Visual Art Award. The film can be interpreted as a commentary on the often limiting format offered by the mass media. In the original interview, Wang experienced she had no space to speak about subjects such as corporeal-cultural concepts. In The Interview she reclaims that space she considers to have lost in order to develop her reasoning on a range of issues.<\/p>\n
